French Onion Soup
Classic French Onion Soup recipe. The secret is the port!
Ingredients
4 Tbsp Butter
1 Tbsp Olive Oil
6 Lg Onion, thinly sliced (Something sweet, like Vidalia)
6 cups beef broth
Salt & Pepper
1/3 cup port
Swiss & Parmesan Cheese (for top)
French Bread
Directions
Melt butter and oil over medium heat. Add onions and cook until well caramelized.
Add stock and bring to boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 30 minutes.
Stir in Port, salt, and pepper to taste
Place bread over bowl of soup. Sprinkle with Swiss and Parmesan cheese. Broil until cheese is melted.
