Chicken Paprikash

  • Dumplings (Nokedli)

  • 1 batch Chicken Paprikash

  • 1 batch Dumplings

Chicken Paprikash Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 Onion chopped

  • 1 Tbsp oil

  • 2 Tbsp Paprika (Hungarian works best)

  • 1 tsp ground black pepper

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 4-5 lbs chicken

  • 2 1⁄2 cups water

  • 16 oz sour cream

  • 1 box dumplings (or see recipe)

Directions

  • Brown onion in oil

  • Add seasoning and chicken; Brown for 10 minutes

  • Add water and cover. Let simmer slowly until chicken is tender

  • Remove chicken. Add sour cream to drippings in pan and mix well. Add dumplings.

  • Serve chicken on top

Dumplings (Nokedli)

Ingredients

  • 3 beaten eggs

  • 3 cups flour

  • 3 tbsp sour cream

  • 1/2 cup water

Directions

  • Mix all ingredients together and beat with a spoon

  • Drop batter by teaspoonful into boiling, salted water

  • Cook for 10 minutes. Drain and rinse in cold water
